FA Cup - Southampton Vs Man Utd Player Ratings and Picture

FA Cup-Southampton 1-2 Man Utd, 29 JANUARY 2011, ST MARY'S

The Saints put up a brave fight, but it’s Man Utd who go marching into the FA Cup fifth round after yet another come-from-behind win.

For the second time in four days, the Reds trailed at half-time, only to haul themselves back into the game and snatch victory in the second period.

Manchester United Player Ratings From ESPNSTAR.COM

Anders Lindegaard :6
His debut for United and apart from the goal, he was barely tested. Routine catches and all.

John O'Shea: 5
Went AWOL when United conceded- this shows why he's behind the pecking order at Old Trafford.

Jonathan Evans :6
Fairly competent in the air, or maybe Southampton were just not good enough?

Chris Smalling: 6
He looked a bit rusty- perhaps he needs to start more for the Red Devils.

Fabio Da Silva (45' off): 5
Another forgetable performance from the Brazilian. They should have played his twin instead, but unfortunately he was not available.

Paul Scholes :6
His crosses and ball distribution were pin point, as usual. The reliable Scholes just needed a goal to his name.

Darron Gibson (58' off)
Did not contribute much in the match and was mostly a spectator as he watched the Southampton midfielders run circles around him.

Anderson (58' off) :5
Was taken out to make way for Giggs after his mediocre performances.

Gabriel Obertan: 6
The Frenchman does have some skills, yes, but he looks a tad like Cristiano Ronaldo in the early days, with little end product to show for it. Give the lad time, i say.

Javier Hernandez :8
One moment of magic and he scores. If we look at his first half performances, no one will ever guess Hernandez would be on the score sheet in this match.

Michael Owen: 6
Nodded in a goal after a series of missed chances. It is probably time to retire Michael.

Substitutions

Wes Brown (45' on): 6
Did creditably after coming on in a tactical switch.

Ryan Giggs (58' on) - 7
Made an immediate impact when he came on to provide an assist for the little pea to score.

Nani (58' on) - 7.5
Did not require much time to settle in to the match as his introduction made an immediate impact.
